What is with this guy??

So basically I just got dumped. Yet this guy still continued to text me and tell me he’s sorry and how amazing and wonderful I am and talking about how we could get together this summer even after I asked him for space. I really want to talk to him yet I don’t want to look desperate! I’m thinking about giving it a week because I’ve never met anyone like him before and I still do deeply care about him and he told me he still cares deeply about me. Someone please help I don’t know what to do!
