Child Support
I live in NJ and my parents are divorced and have been for awhile now. I am 18 years old and a college student. A couple months ago I wasn’t speaking to my mother she wasn’t paying anything towards my dad for me living there full time and since she wasn’t being there for me mentally my dad wanted her to start paying child support. Well now things with my mom have been getting a lot better and I’ve been staying at my moms and dads now. Our relationship is growing again. Well my dad paid for years with me and my brother. They stopped paying my brother when he went into the marines after high school. My dad has always been on time with child support and given her more than she needs. But, my dad comes from a two income house from amazing jobs. My mom is a single mother, who has a 7 year old daughter and just filed divorced with her dad. As the child, I want my child support to end between my dad and my mom. I don’t think it’s fair anymore, I don’t need it. Now I’ve brought it up to my dad that I want it to be over and he said it’s not fair for me to pay for years and now she can’t and you don’t want her to? He texted me today that he needs my enrollment letter from college so he can keep child support going so they see i’m in college still. He just told me this doesn’t cern me. What are your thoughts?
