How should gifts be opened at a baby shower ?

I’m pregnant with my 3rd and with my first I had a baby shower and I opened the gifts at the shower my family wanted to see my reaction opening the gifts they brought plus it was nice saying thank you to each individual who brought a gift and thank you to everyone who was nice enough to even show up. How do you ladies feel gifts should be opened at a baby shower ?

I WISH it was acceptable to open them at home! I hate hate hate when everyone was looking at me. Ugh.

At a shower I personally find it rude not to open with the guests present. The whole point is kinda around the gifts and I know I always put in a lot of effort to the gifts I’m giving. I appreciate to see their reaction.

I’ve never been to a shower where the gifts were opened at home. I wouldn’t mind it but I think the older crowd especially enjoys seeing their gift opened as well as what else was bought.

The last few showers I went to there was no gift opening and I was so glad!! It’s not fun to me to stop my conversation to watch someone open gifts.

I pick the third option. However the baby maker wants to do it is fine. Everyone hates watching people open gifts yet someone always complains if they dont. Either way someone will complain so do whatever the hell you want!

I hated it and I know some people get bored with it, especially if they're a lot of gifts. So, we did the baby bingo during it to help keep guests entertained a bit. Those that wanted to see gifts opened were pleased and those that don't are at least pacified by a game with a potential prize.

I didn’t want to open presents with everyone watching but I guess that’s what you do at a baby shower lol. I actually made sure the cake was served during so no one was paying attention that much. Then like halfway through we took a break because a lot of people needed to leave. My uncle was super annoying during it and then my grandma was super rude when I opened her gift so I shot them a death glare. Honestly I hate watching people open presents, I wish it was acceptable to just open each present as the person shows up with the gift. I got really overwhelmed and hot and no cute pictures of us opening them.

If you want to take the focus off you, do baby shower bingo as you open gifts. Then everyone will be looking at their boards and not you.
