ok so my boyfriend has had cold sores in the past and told me before we first kissed. i have had cold sores before too so it was no big deal to me.

but he has an active cold sore at the moment and i just wanted to know if oral herpes can cause genital herpes? if it can, is it only when he has an active sore or does it not matter?

i just wanted to know because i’ve given him head and he does not have genital herpes, but if he were to “return the favor” right now would i get genital herpes?
