My 9 month old baby will go to anyone, he’s not afraid of strangers. Is this normal?

My pediatrician told me at my sons 9 month check up that he should be more weary of strangers at this age. He should be able to discern the difference between someone he knows and someone he’s never seen. But my son isn’t that way. He will go to anyone and be fine. He’s only met my in laws twice in his life and he let them carry him and babysit. Is this normal??

If you’ve never given him reason to be scared of people then he won’t be, he learns from you. Ur pediatrician should know those kinds of things don’t have a “normal” haha.

It’s not normal, but its also not anything to be concerned with. Like adults and kids, babies have personalities.

It honestly depends on the kid! My first was exactly the same way! She is now 5 and knows what strangers are but still super friendly! My youngest on the other hand is extremely picky on people even if they tell her hi she Hides she is 1 and has been that way since she was born lol I wouldn’t worry to much I’d start talking about strangers and what not we started that with my first when she hit a year old just cuz she was so friendly

He’s social, what’s the big deal my daughter was social in the womb (stated by my midwife lol..) but she still is super social she does get quite around some people she will not take anything from a certain man at a local store I always shop at. So I think there needs to be a balance, I couldn’t have a baby who screams and cries when I walk out of the room..it’d be too hard on my stress wise. But I’d say he just social..that’s my opinion because my daughter is very social she makes everyone she sees smile they come up to her and talk to her she’ll laugh and smile and talk (she’s only 14 months so you know..) but I don’t think it’s bad..

Our pediatrician said that too at her 9 month but he was wrong our daughter had stranger anxiety at 3 months which he said is normal at her 3 month...

My son was the same way since he was born anyone could hold him and he wouldn’t bat an eye. He’s 5 now, and is so confident and outgoing. Loves to meet new people and make new friends, orders and pays for his own food when we go out to eat, will go to a register with his toy and money all by himself and chat up the person at the register while he pays.
I’ve never met a kid like him in my life, and a lot of people tell me the same.  I think it all has to do with the confidence of a child, how secure they feel in their environment, some kids just aren’t the hide behind their parents type. And that’s not a bad thing as long as you’re keeping an eye on them and make sure they’re always safe.

My son is this way, always has been and he’s 14 months. He takes a min to warm up to people now that he’s mobile but generally he’s like this. I thought it was odd too at first but he’s a social child & I agree with the others saying if you’re not afraid then they don’t feel they should be.

I've never had this issue with my two. It normally takes them awhile to get used to someone besides my mom because she is very involved in their lives.
