Job needs a W2 from years ago to get employed?

I recently started the hiring process at a company. They emailed me telling me that they need my W2’s from when I was 16-17 years old. Has anyone had this happen to them? Why would they need them? I was thinking employment verification but I’ve never heard of that or had that happen before.

Huh? I don’t even think I have my W2 from 3-4 years ago. That doesn’t sound right at all. I wouldn’t give it to them if you have them

I've been working for well over 15yr even in the military and tons of civilian jobs. No one has EVER  asked for my w2. That's your information no one needs that but you and the company you worked for at the time. DO NOT HAND THAT OVER!

No, a job will never ask for your w2. Somethings going on. On take it if that’s what they really want. But I’d call hr and see what’s going on.
