"You need some kind of faith..."

Sarah • 24, TTC Baby 2. Bring on the anxiety. Haha

I had a friend today make the comment that she doesn't understand how I'm an atheist, because she always thinks you need something to believe in.

I was partially insulted and partially disgusted with her reasoning. She stated that if I have no faith, then I have nothing to believe in. I believe in myself, I believe in my husband and our son. I believe that humanity is inherently good, when you remove the religious zealots. That's really all I need.

She also said that if something were to happen to my son, who would I ask for help-who would I seek to restore him.

Well, my son was born prematurely and he had a very rough life in the beginning. He struggled to breathe, he struggled to eat. Things weren't easy, we almost lost him. With that being said, I sought the knowledge of the providers caring for him. I put my faith in the providers and science that would heal his body, not some mythical being.

I may not be religious, but I'll be damned if I don't have faith. My faith may not resemble hers, but it has more roots in reality.

Rant over. Lol
