Crying it out at 3 weeks old?

My baby wants to be held at night, like I’ll put her to sleep and try to put her in her co-sleeper and she’ll wake up and lose it. As soon as I pick her up she’s fine and fast asleep again. My husband and my in-laws think we should let her cry it out but I think that at this age she always needs something. What do you think?

Your in laws are wrong. Thank them.for their advice and then keep doing what you're doing. They're not your child's parents and you know your baby best. Babies at this age do only cry to communicate a need, they literally aren't capable of manipulation like an older baby or toddler is. Trust your instincts. hold your baby when she cries and keep meeting her needs.

I am going through the same exact thing. I talked to a lot of my friends with kids and they all convinced me to hold her when she needs to be held. My daughter is almost three weeks as well. They explained to me how new to the world she is and that she still needs comfort from mommy. It definitely affects our sleep but I can’t bear to listen to her cry it out, it breaks my heart. 
Most friends said it didn’t form a habit with their kids and that by one month they were able to sleep in bassinet.

I would not let my 3 week old cry it out. Nope. I will hold her and comfort her before I let her scream her head off. When she starts fussing I usually wait 3 minutes or so depending on what the cry is like before picking her up just to see if she might soothe herself and put herself back to sleep. But never more than that.

Having the same issue with my son who is 4 weeks old. Found out he has silent reflux which makes it super uncomfortable for him to lay flat. Talk to your doctor about the signs. We have him on meds now for it and he is sleeping in a bassinet with an incline so he doesn’t lay flat (remember how bad pregnancy heart burn sucked) it is helping him a ton! But yes way way way to young to cry it out.

My child does this too hes 2weeks my partner wants me to let him cry but i can’t, eventually when i’m supper exhausted from not sleeping, ill put him down and hell start crying, and guess what his daddy  Goes and picks him up. 
So don’t listen to your in laws bc if they were dealing with the baby every night they would pick them up too.

Start having baby sleep by himself/herself during the day. Sleep training works best when started at naptime. Check out mybabycansleep on Facebook. They have a free group and tons of great advice. It's been my go-to for my two kiddos.

My daughter is a month old now and we kind of let her cry it out. We change her, feed her, rock her then move her to her crib. I pop her paci in her mouth and normally she falls asleep. Sometimes she fights it though and she will try to stay awake. If she is still fighting (most of the time because her paci fell out) then I’ll either put the paci back in or let her self soothe for a minute if I know everything is okay. If that doesn’t work then I’ll rock her again. She doesn’t sleep swaddled because she hates it.
