Does this make me an awful person 😬

I have a guy friend who I really started to like. He had a girlfriend so I never said anything to him. We were at a friends house and they all went to another room to do something and we started talking a lot. And then we started texting and whatnot (just innocent stuff and not a lot because I didn’t want to cross boundaries) and he said he liked me. I said I liked him too but that he has a girlfriend and I didn’t want to keep talking to him if he was still with her. So that was two days ago and tonight he’s supposed to see his girlfriend and break up with her. Like in 20 minutes. I feel really bad for her though and I feel so of shitty but I like him.
