Moving away from family with kids

Erin

Me and my husband live in northern Wisconsin with our two daughters (one on the way)

Before we had our second daughter we had moved 4 hours south of our families. (My parents and his mom live in our hometown) we lived there for 2 years.

The reason we moved back to our hometown was that 1. We really wanted to buy a house and it was financially a better decision to buy up north (plus we wanted some land and there was nothing like land in the city we lived in) 2. We lived near his dad and that family dynamic wasn't healthy, so we decided to move closer to healthy family relationships.

Anyway, we have talked about moving south for years. Just kind of joking about it. Dreaming about it. I'm a stay at home mom and being cooped up in the winter is hard. I love being outside in my garden. We don't do any winter sports, so I literally stay in my house from November until April.

If it weren't for our family living here, we would be gone! Has anyone been close to their family and decided to make a move across the country or a few states away? What's your story?
