Sex after D&C

I had a D&C this morning and the discharge nurse told me to wait to have sex for 6 weeks. Has anyone else had one and been told to wait that long? I go back to the doctor the 25th for follow up bloodwork. Then he wants us to wait to try until he does more bloodwork in a month. I am going to ask my doctor on the 25th, but wondered if anyone else had been told 6 weeks and then their doctor given them a different time frame. I was expecting to be told to wait until the bleeding stopped or 2 weeks. Six weeks seemed like a long time.
