Recommended induction by 40 weeks?

I will be a 43 yo FTM in July. As of today, I am 18+5 weeks. Saw my OB yesterday. She casually mentioned that an induction would be scheduled, if I don't go into labor on my own by 39-40 weeks, to reduce the chances of late-term stillbirth. Have any of you been told or experienced this?

Our high risk OB talked with us about it because I'm 40. He said the research studies are flawed and that he wouldn't recommend doing that for me unless their were other circumstances that put me or baby in danger.
There might be evidence-based research to look up about it online that gives a different perspective than your doctor. 
However, your doctor might have experience or your situation might be different. I would suggest calling up your doctor and asking follow up questions.

That happened with my first one when I was 40. I thought I would mind but it was kind of nice knowing an end date. The bonus was that the induction sped up my labour.

I’ve heard that...doctor hasn’t brought it up with me yet, but I assumed he would when I get a bit closer.

I had my first at 40 and my OB wouldn’t let me go past 39 weeks. She said with age the placentas can start to break down more quickly and not function properly so that was her reasoning. I’m now 26w with twins and they won’t let me go past 37-38 weeks.
