Small baby?

Hi everyone!  I’m currently 37+3 and I went in for my weekly appointment yesterday.  She said that I look small and had me get another ultrasound.  There I found out that my baby girl is around 6.5 pounds.  Should she be bigger?  That doesn’t seem so small to me.  The ultrasound lady said everything looks perfect.  My doctor also told me that they don’t like to let you go past your due date, so if I don’t go into labor before March 4, they will induce me.  Is that common?

Ultrasound measurements can be off by two pounds in either direction. And no, it is absolutely NOT common to induce labor for no medical reason. Going past a due date is not a medical reason. Most first time moms are about a week past their initial due date, and due dates are estimates anyway. They’re not an exact science. If everything else is perfectly normal, I don’t know why your doctor would say that to you, other than for their own convenience. You can definitely turn down induction. They can’t make you do it.

That sounds fine!  Healthy birth weight is 5.5-9 lb and at this point they gain .5 lb per week- so you are perfect!  Also, really, going to 41 is “full term” and fine unless there is a problem.  Some providers will let u go to 42 but want to probably do nst to make sure baby and placenta are doing good.  I would personally push to 41 if i were u.

You look great! I think it's odd they won't let you go past your due date since it's just an estimate and babies are usually just fine until 42 weeks. Special circumstances aside, you can always tell them you don't want to be induced if you don't. I would hope they wouldn't do anything you don't want if it's not medically necessary.

My daughter was 4 days late and she was only 6lb 7 so ur baby girl will b perfectly fine

Sounds perfect to me. My daughter was 6lb 3 at birth 39 weeks exactly. Her brother is due in w few weeks had my scan today he’s 6lbs at 36 weeks. Boys tend to be a bit bigger and my doctor said he’s growing perfect and should gain approximately half a pound a week over next few weeks. Il be having him

2 weeks so 7lb sounds mighty big enough to me!!!

My first daughter was born at 39 weeks at 6lb 12oz and my second daughter was born at 38 weeks weighing  6lb 11oz. I’d say that’s perfectly normal x

Answering your second question as there are plenty of answers on the first one. Some people are induced early or on their due date for medical reasons, but generally with a healthy pregnancy and everything looking normal they won't induce you until you are closer to 42 weeks.

Umm no that’s pretty normal. My last baby was born at 37 weeks and was 6 pounds 5oz.
