Am I the only parent?

Question

So when I was younger I had a friend and her parents NEVER let her leave the house her friends always have to come over and now that I’m getting older I feel like I’m going to be that parent. Am I the only one? My daughter will of course be able to leave and go hang out but never stay at others houses.

Nah, neither of my sons will be allowed to sleepover at friends houses. The kids can come stay by us but my boys won’t be staying anywhere ... both my SO & I were molested by parents of friends we were allowed to stay by so that’s a definite no go.

I feel you on that. I personally don’t trust anybody with my son. It’s nothing personal it’s just anything can happen... you hear all these stories and it scares me. It’s better to be safe than sorry.

Nope ! As i was molested numerous times from staying at peoples houses.
Even uncles can’t be trusted! 
My child will not be staying anywhere until she’s 16 atleast

My parents were the same way and how this world is now a days, I dont want my child staying at other peoples houses. You just never know. It's sad and I know I'll feel bad but it's just not worth the risk.

I had a friend growing up that wasnt allowed to even be in her front yard. My dad got increasingly more overbearing as I got older and at one point I couldn't even walk down the street. I plan on being nothing like that. Kids need room to grow. I plan on having the check in with me conversations and the meeting other parents thing before my kid stays at someone elses house when he is to young to judge if its safe or not.

I wasn’t allowed to leave the house unless it was with a sibling or both of them. I was never allowed to have sleepovers or even go to other people’s houses.... I was a good kid so I’ll be doing the same with my kid.

My child can go to the houses of friends once I meet their parents but probably not stay the night unless I know the parents very well. When I was younger, I could stay at my mom’s best friend’s (basically my aunt), my best friend’s house, and family. That’s it lol. I hated it growing up when I couldn’t go to sleepovers but I understand now and I’m glad they didn’t let me.

Same. Kiddos aren’t allowed to go to sleepovers, so to be fair to their friends we won’t host sleepovers either. The highest percentage of abuse comes from those that you know. Not worth the risk.

That’s how I am with my kids . I have to know you very very well for my kids to go to your house 🤷🏻‍♀️ and they dnt stay the night unless it’s close family. My
Kids friend are more then welcome at my house any time ! We’ve have had kids that practically live at my house bc they have spent so much time here 😂

Eh, I’m not gonna want my baby hanging out with adults I don’t know and trust, period. I will have to know his friends and their parents. If they’re cool, then it’s fine for him to stay over. I used to have sleepovers as a kid. I actually didn’t like them that much because I have bad insomnia and had my parents come get me once after everyone was asleep, but they let me stay over from about age 6. Id probably wait until he is 7 or 8.
