The paint dilemma: A timeline

3 Weeks ago: My significant other asks me to decide on a color for the nursery and get some samples at Home Depot. I do this. I apply the samples, and we choose the one we want.

2.5 Weeks ago: My significant other mentions changing our bedroom paint color. Says it has to match the weird rust colored curtains and a painting we have in the room. I research palates and decide we will go with a blue/grey.

2 Weeks ago: We get our floors refinished. No painting can be done at this point. Floors turn out badly, and need to be redone.

1 Week ago: Floors are refinished AGAIN, so painting is on hold still. Floors turn out much better this time.

*Flash forward to this week*

Monday: I paint samples on the wall for our bedroom.

Tuesday: We discuss the colors, decide on one.

Wednesday: Discuss colors once again and are less sure.

Thursday: My significant other hates all the colors I picked, and instead chooses the nursery color for our room. We decide to paint the nursery an “earthy pink” instead.

Today: I wake up at the butt crack of dawn and go to Home Depot. Spend 1.5 hours trying to find 3 “earthy pinks” to get samples of. I call my significant other for advice and opinions. He tells me this is my project and it should have been decided 3 weeks ago, and he doesn’t understand why I put everything off to the last minute.

*Facepalm*

I DID pick a color 3 weeks ago. THEN you stole it.

Lesson learned: when a man says, “Oh this is all you, you make the decisions and this will be your project.” What he really means is, “I am going to say this is your project so you do most of the stressing and legwork. Then when you choose something, that’s when I will start to have an opinion. Definitely not prior to your decision, however.”

I think we finally have a color though. Sigh.
