Makena 17 ohp ?

Question

Has Anyone else been offered that or have taken it? It’s a shot you get every week starting at 17 weeks to prevent preterm labor they offer it to moms who have had a baby before 37 weeks.  I read up on it and a major flag I seen was that it can increase miscarriage. If anyone here has received it before can you give me a little insight about it ?

I am a nurse who actually gives these infusions. I’ve given them to mothers who have had several early labors (and some losses)
The medication made a huge difference and they went full term. It is better your baby makes it past 36 weeks for lung development. Benefit outweighs the risk.

My water broke at 21 weeks with my first pregnancy and it was the most heartbreaking experience. We lost him a few weeks later after trying everything to keep the pregnancy. With my second we started the 17p shots at 16 weeks until 36 weeks. I delivered him at 38.5 and he is perfectly healthy. I will also be getting them this time around. It was definitely worth it!

I will start at 16 weeks. I’ve had a 35 weeker and two 37 weekers. All started labor around 30 weeks though

No, and I am sincerely against anything injected during pregnancy as none are entirely safe! While I contract and dilate early, I haven’t delivered early though, so there’s that!! I would look into alternative options before that though!
