Can this be right?

Question

My midwife started me on birth control 4 weeks postpartum (skipping the placebo week), my period started 5 weeks postpartum (even though I'm exclusively breast feeding/pumping at work). That period lasted 13 days. My midwife wasn't concerned. Today I'm 8 weeks postpartum and it looks like my period is starting again. Is this right? I'm considering getting a new provider... I shouldn't be getting a period if I'm skipping the placebo week.

It don't always work like that. Just because you skip the placebo pill don't mean that it will skip a period.

I would say this isn’t really a provider issue but more of your own body working out the hormone regulation. You just gave birth, your breastfeeding, then on top of it your taking birth control which is more hormones. Your body is trying to regulate itself and it can be a few cycles till it all gets sorted out.  It is normal after having a baby to have weird periods ( extra heavy, coming more frequent than usual or longer periods of time between periods) to start with, adding additional pharmaceutical hormones is just cranking up the craziness. My OB didn’t have me start my birth control until 6 weeks post partum or after your first period whichever is later.

You can have PP bleeding up to 8 weeks after.. could just be that
