Is this normal?

I called the pediatricians office to set up my baby’s doctor because my OB said I needed to get him in as an established patient in advance. Then the receptionist said “have you had the baby yet?” And I said “no” and she said “Call us when you have the baby and we can set up an appointment”. Is that strange? She didn’t even take my name or due date or any info to actually get him in as an established patient. I also heard they typically like to meet with you before the baby is born and nothing. It’s almost making me angry
