Denied birth control?

Question

I made an appointment at my doctors office and was told I could get my IUD put in or get pills or pretty much any form of birth control they had that day. 
The day rolls around, I go, wait the 2 hour wait, sit down in the room for not even 10 mins and get denied. 
“ you have to have an active period,” I explained I have PCOS so I haven’t gotten a period in almost 9 months, they say sorry and tell me to come back when I’ve started my period. 
I have no idea what to do, I need birth control - I know I can go to Walmart but wouldn’t I need a note from my physician? 
Has this happened to anyone else with PCOS? I have health insurance and I’ve been on birth control before, but it’s been a few years.

Any tips on starting my period? Or ANYTHING,

If theres a planned parenthood nearby, they may be able to get you birth control instead.

Most doctors give birth control specifically for pcos to help regulate your periods, they should have prescribed provera to induce a period and birth control to regulate if you aren’t ttc. I’d find a new doctor.

I have PCOS too, your doctor should be prescribing something called Provera to induce a period. 9 months is a long time without one and gets dangerous because the lining needs to shed. I’d ask for that maybe, or if possible for you consider switching doctors! 
My doctor prescribed the provera every 6 weeks if I did not get a period on my own!

Happened to my sister. She has PCOS and hadnt had a period in 6 months. They said they wouldn't give her the depo (or anything tbh) until she had 3 periods in a row to shed out all the extra lining to prevent infections and what not.

There prefer it that your on your period, i think it’s easier for the IUD to go in. But its not recommended. I took my daughter, she wasnt on it. I had one. I don’t remember that being a specification. But if it was they should of told you over the phone when they booked your appointment

Thats weird. I told my obgyn that I had irregular periods and she prescribed BC for that specific reason. To regulate. I would change doctors if I were you. May just be that particular office.
