Beast feeding and formula?

Are any mom doing both or have done both?ftm looking for advice on it. Thanks

Breastfeeding is a supply and demand system, so the only caution I will give is that if you replace a feeding with formula, then you are telling your body that you don't need as much milk.  I gave my daughter some formula while we figured out her reflux issues, but I still pumped everytime I did is ask as not to lose my supply.

I tried to breast feed with my first who is now 19 months and was unable to so ended up doing formula for her. I am 38 weeks with #2 and planning on starting him with formula. I think breast feeding is great but I also think formula is. I’m not saying I won’t try to breastfeed if we have another child but this time around we feel like it’s the best thing for our family to do formula.

I plan on trying to do both!!!! I would like to pump, breastfeed, and maybe even do formula, especially for nighttime. My first son never slept at night because he wasn’t getting enough breast milk, so I plan on doing things different this time

Yep I've done both with my first. Then I slowly just did formula. She was a biter so I couldn't handle that plus no sleep haha

I'm currently 36wks with my 3rd and for some reason I dont get milk at all. I have tried everything but nothing works...
Has anyone experienced this and did anything work? I badly want to breastfeed because of the health benefits for the baby.

I know moms who did both but many did it because they wanted to breastfeed but were unable to produce enough. They always offered and fed from breast first and than offered formula to supplement. I think it just depends on what your goal is. Is it you feel you wont produce enough? Or that you are unable to breastfeed? That you want to your partner to help? That you only want to breastfeed for so long?
Theres nothing wrong with deciding to use formula but I think how you go about it just depends on the vision you have.

I hope I don’t have to formula feed cause I can’t afford those things....I don’t qualify for wic and my take home pay can’t supply constant formula ....

I had a lot of trouble breast feeding my first. Painful latch, open soars, mastitis, cloggs, staff infection... what I ended up doing for six months was both. I would do a lot of pumping to give me a break, but sometimes I just needed to give my breasts a break from ANYTHING sucking on them, including a pump. It worked out great for me. I did a lot of mixing breast milk I had saved in fridge with formula so that baby was constantly getting the good anti bodies and such. Some times he got strait formula too. His immune system was great the entire time, even when everyone else in the hose got sick he wouldn’t get sick, so I felt it really worked and he got the benifits. It was truely the best choice for us.

Going to start with breastfeeding and go from there. I've breastfed all three of them so far but my third switched to formula due to reflux very early on. My first self weaned at 9 months and my second I made stop at two because I was pregnant and was just done with it by then. If this one needs formula well cross that bridge when it comes if not I'll breastfeed.

I breastfed exclusively for the first 5.5 months, then supplemented with formula when her needs outpaced my supply. I kept offering the breast first and nursing as much as I had before, so I didn't drop in supply when I introduced formula.
