Was this a good reason to cut me off?

I started talking to this guy about a year ago we’ve hung out couple times but nothing special more like friendship. I never saw him any other way but I truly believe he did like me at one point. So a while back he asked me if I was seeing someone and I said no that I’m single single and I guess he took it the wrong way.. I recently started hanging out with another guy and I feel like I liked this man more because he’s about my age and the other dude I was seeing was 4 years younger than me. SO he found out that I was seeing and talking to someone else and he deleted me off social media and told me he wanted nothing to do with me and that it was a mistake to hang out with me, I made it clear to him since the beginning that it was more like friendship thing, nothing more. He’s obviously hurt and for that same reason he cut me off..
