Sex STILL impossible due to pain

I'm 6 months PP. I had a second degree tear during birth. My husband and I have only attempted sex twice - once at 3 months PP and once at 6 months PP. Both times were so incredibly painful that we couldn't continue...we had to stop. He couldn't even really get in.

Is that normal since we've only tried twice? Or should I have been fully healed and pain free by 6 months PP?
