HSG??

Question

Has anyone here had an HSG exam done? Is it even worth going to take a year into TTC? Was it covered by your insurance? My insurance is telling me that if coded correctly by my Gyno, I just have to pay my copay. If not, it's $667 because it's considered experimental medicine 🤦🏾‍♀️ (I cannot afford that now) I'm discouraged.

My tubes were blocked very painful, but they cleared the tubes and I got pregnant the same cycle. I would have the doctor code it so it’s covered! Definitely worth it!! Good luck!!!

I had an HSG done last June after 9 months of trying...I got pregnant 5 days after, I ovulated 3 days early on that cycle.  I’m 36 weeks tomorrow.  My insurance covered part of it but it was still $1,000.  Good luck!! Definitely works!

I just got it done today and it hurt like hell, but was over in a matter of minutes. Just took really slow deep breaths. Definitely worth it because it gave me peace of mind knowing my uterus and tubes are clear and flowing. I believe my insurance had it under diagnostic procedure but still for infertility and I paid nothing. This isn't an experimental procedure, it's considered diagnostic because there could be underlying issues in cases of infertility.

I had one done in month 7 of ttc. The hsg was scheduled for day 12 of the cycle and we just figured there was no sense in really tracking/trying that month. Everything was normal ( nothing blocked), but lots of "gunk" came out the day after, and we ended up conceiving that cycle!

Just had this done on Tuesday.  I had contraction like pain when the dye was inserted, doc said I probably had some blockage.  Waiting the final results but everything looked ok.  They do say this could clear any blockage going on.  I think it’s definitely a test you should do.  It will give you piece of mind and rule out any other issues.  Like other comments on here, tell them the insurance dilemma so it gets coded correctly.  Best of luck!

It was definitely worth it for me. Mainly just for peace of mind. Now I know my tube isn’t blocked so that’s one less potential reason I’m not getting pregnant crossed off my list 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️

I had mine done about a week ago. It was extremely painful for me, but some women don’t feel anything or just mild cramping. My insurance covered it, I didn’t even have a copay.

I was having really heavy periods so my doc did it under that reason and was fully covered

Had it done. Doctor ordered it and insurance covered it. It was worth knowing. I had scarring on my cervix that the saw while inserting the tool. My tubes were clear but definitely worth it.

Had mine today and it didn't hurt at all, my anxiety was way worse than the actual procedure.
