Breastfed baby refuses to nurse. Only wants a bottle.
Please help. My almost 3 month old daughter was breastfeeding great. Perfect latch, eating every 3 hours. I started pumping and feeding probably once a day because I go back to work next week. I started this early, probably around 4 weeks. A couple weeks ago she went on a nursing strike and wouldn’t nurse at all for probably a day and a half. Then I could only get her to nurse on one breast only. We finally got back to nursing normally for a few days and then she completely stopped. Will not nurse at all, ever. Not even dream feed which she would usually do fine. This has been going on for about 4 days and nights now. I try to offer her breast often. When she’s tired or fussy or hungry. She will refuse. She sees my nipple and screams. She won’t latch or even come close. She’ll pull away. I don’t try to force her. I always have a pumped bottle ready. I’ve tried everything. Different positions, skin to skin, shields, pump until let down and try, feed bottle until less hungry and try, try before she’s really hungry, wait it out as she cries a little and try. I don’t know what to do. I go back to work Monday. I’m heartbroken. I absolutely hate pumping when I can hold and nurse my baby girl. I’ve cried every single day since this started. I’m bitter seeing other breastfeeding moms. If I do t do something by next week I doubt she’ll ever nurse again. Has anyone dealt with this before? Will it end?
