12 week scan- how can I get the day off work without telling them the reason?

I have annual leave left but the date of my 12 week scan is in a busy period of work where we aren’t normally allowed time off. 
I am worried my holiday request will be declined if I don’t have a good enough reason. But obviously I don’t want to tell them the real reason yet. 
Does anybody have any good ideas?

I don't think you're obligated to tell more than that. Should be private after all.

Pelvic exam? Physical? Does it have to be the whole day? Not like a half day?

Cervical cancer screening. Suspect something weird. Technically that’s a pretty decent reason and at appts they do stuff like that

Any you just tell the one person who you need to? 
I didn’t want to share early either until the head of school asked me to attend a training session an hour away in the day of my scan. I told him but kept it from everyone else until I was ready. Made it easier that someone knew as I could get any time off stress free.

When I went in for my scans, I just told HR that I had a doctor's appointment. They aren't supposed to ask more than that, but if they would have asked for specifics, I would have told them it was my yearly checkup.
