How efficient do they get?

Question

My daughter is 7 weeks old and during her night feedings (usually 1 am and 5 am after going down at 8pm ) she nurses 7 min then falls asleep. I try to wake her to take more but that's all she will do. I know they get more efficient, but is 7 min really enough time now?  After thr 5am feed she will usually sleep another 3.5 - 4 hours so I am assuming she is satisfied, but her poops are green in the mornings then so I dont think shes getting the hindmilk. Should I be worried?

Hi Heidi, 
Unless baby is losing weight or your pediatrician is worried, I wouldn’t stress about it. My son started eating less and less at his nighttime feedings around then which was a sign that he was about to drop them both and at 10 weeks he did and has been sleeping 12 hours a night since. He is now nine months old. Assuming your child wasn’t premature and is otherwise healthy, she would probably indicate to you if she was still hungry and wanted more food.
