Do most docs have you get HCG tested?

Question

I’ve seen a lot of people on the community boards know exactly what their HCG levels are but my first appointment isn’t until 3/13, I found out I was pregnant almost 2 weeks ago.  I’m wondering if my doctor dropped the ball and should have sent me to get my HCG levels confirmed? This is my first pregnancy and didn’t know that getting a blood test to monitor HCG was common!
For those of you who are getting HCG tests, was it something you requested or some thorn that your doctor had you do when you found out you were pregnant?

My doctor isn’t doing it.  It’s my third pregnancy so I know the drill and he knows me well enough not to worry about it.  My friend is pregnant with her fourth and they didn’t do it with her either.
They did test with my first and second though.

I’m having it done because I’ve had two miscarriages in the past, and my doctor wants to make sure all levels are doubling properly. I believe if you’ve never had that sort of medical history they typically don’t do it. It wasn’t done with my first pregnancy, and they only did it with my second when I started bleeding. Third time, they got me in as soon as I called, and I’ve been twice, go back for a third time 2/27

I requested it due to a past miscarriage and also worried based on my age. But I don’t think it’s needed for those who haven’t had any prior issues.

I haven’t gotten any blood drawn for HCG with either pregnancies.

My family doctor does it as a confirmation of pregnancy for the referral to an obgyn.

I’ve had it done due to prior miscarriages, but it isn’t standard at my OB/Midwife practice unless you’re in a high risk category. Good luck!

My doctor hasn’t mentioned it at all, either! My first apt is on March 13 and I’m 5+4 today.  I’ve only gone in for one blood work apt to confirm the pregnancy, and they just called and said levels look like I’m about 5 weeks pregnant, so I’m assuming all my numbers are good! I feel like my anxiety would skyrocket if I had to go in to test every other day and check my numbers, so I’m going to try not to do it unless it’s necessary. This is my first pregnancy, though. I don’t know a lot.

Most don’t.  Mine doesn’t and my first ob appt isn’t until I’m 8 weeks at least

I only had hcg tested bc I had a miscarriage in December. AND I’m pretty darn sure it was just to make me feel better (which it did). With my first pregnancy- the plan was a mom group meeting with RN when I found out to learn some rules and then first MD appt at 10 weeks. This time they placed lab orders remotely, sent me a message my MyChart and will see me at 10 weeks.
