What is the difference? Just curious how others feel

What would be the difference on having someone you know give you their sperm to make a baby or paying for a donor? You have a better chance that the person you know being around than the person that has no clue. Even if the person you know doesn't want to be around it would be the Same as the person that doesn't even know. If you know the person at least you would know that their background is the truth and not just what they filled out on paper. And for the person that said stop asking the same question....I haven't so thank you.

I think if that's the way you're going to go then you should go with a donor you don't know because what if you have a baby with the sperm of someone you know and then you stay in touch/ see them around and they go on to have their own family? Your child would have siblings living nearby that they may even go to school with or want to date. How would you explain that to them? Especially if the guy doesn't want anything to do with the child? I personally think that would be cruel to the child. At least if it's a donor you don't know then you can be honest with your child and say they were conceived using a donor- you wouldn't have to hide anything from them as they grow up.

Plenty of difference. If you get a donor sperm you will go through a clinic. The donor will be tested and you have choice if donor, age, height, race etc. You will have more support with insemination too. You will have a contract in place, the donor will have no rights over your baby and you can't claim child support from them. 
Getting someone you know to be the donor, you will want to get them tested and get a contract in place. You also need to consider how you will use the sperm, if your going through a clinic or self administering. Could get complicated with someone you know.
