It depends on how close you are with your supervisor. If you know they’d understand; then just tell the truth, you need a mental health day / personal day. If you don’t think they’d understand, say you have something minor enough that it wouldn’t affect you for more than a day, like a migraine, an upset stomach / diarrhea, but not something contagious like a cold or flu that would take multiple days to recover from.
