How much do your babies weigh?!

Question

I’m curious how much your preemies weigh now? My son was 5 weeks early and weighed 4lbs 13oz and now he’s 5 months old (4 adjusted) and he weighs 12lbs 8oz. Wondering if that’s normal? My doctor says he needs to be the weight of a full term baby at 5 months and I’m really concerned he’s not there yet. 
He’s eating bananas and apples (gerber 1st foods) and baby rice cereal and also the extra calorie formula for preemies. I’m not sure what else to do to get him to gain weight.
Thoughts? 
Help would be appreciated!!!

My son was 11 weeks early. He was 3lb 14oz at birth. I just looked it up he was 15lbs at 5 months old. But my kids gain weight really fast and he was big for his age to begin with. Every preemie is so different. I was always told as long as he was gaining and he was eating well then it was fine.

A lot of drs aren’t familiar with preemie growth. It seems unreasonable to expect a baby that was smaller at birth to catch up and be right on par with a full term baby so soon. Most ex prems catch up by the age of 2. The important thing is making sure baby stays on their own growth curve and that they go by their adjusted age when looking at percentiles. Sounds like your little one is doing just fine and super cute too. My little guy was born at 32+2 weighing 2lbs 15oz. He’s 9 months actual and weighs 11lbs.

Formula is better for weight gain than rice and food.  Try not to fill up on those.

My daughter was 7+3 weeks early and weighed 3lb15 at birth, she’s almost 16 weeks now (8 weeks adjusted) and weighs around 11lb7oz, she’s still on formula at the moment but she has always gained weight quite quick, at 1 point she was gaining almost 1lb a week.  I’m not sure if there is a “normal” when it comes to babies especially preemies, I wouldn’t be too worried about it as long as he’s feeding and getting all the nutrients he needs.

My son was 5 weeks early and weighed 4lb 11oz (lowest was 4.5lb). He is 4 months old and weighs 13lbs. My doctor isn’t concerned with his weight and said it can take a year for a premie to catch up. I think you r doing fine!

Oldest 4 weeks early 3lb 13 oz and 17 in. Now 2 1/2 years 27 lbs and 34 in.
Youngest 4 weeks early 4lb 15oz and 16 3/4 in drop to 4 lbs....17 month in a week and now 17 lbs and 28ins....still not on the chart

My son came at 28 weeks and was 2.2lbs.  He was definitely not caught up at 5months old.  Nobody ever said that to me.  They told me preemies could take up to 2 years to catch up.  He is not 15 months old and is more than caught up except he hasn’t had any teeth come in.

My daughter was 8 weeks early, weighing in at 5lbs 4oz, huge for her gestation. At 5 months she weighed 11lbs 6oz, 1st percentile. Now shes 15 months and 19 lbs, 30th percentile. Just give him time
