Why did my friend tell me c sections are preferred way of giving birth for athletes? better than natural.

I have to have a c section and am trying to stay positive about it. Can you share any pros or pluses about having a c over natural? My friend said cs are preferred for professional athletes so she didn’t get why I wanted natural.

My recovery really want as bad as I expected. I had pain for about 6 weeks, but it got better every day and I was going up and down stairs 3 days after. I had a long hard labour leading up to my c section and the surgery itself was a piece of cake compared to the 34 hours that came before it. I think I'll probably schedule a c section for my next babe and skip the going into labour part. I joked to my friend afterwards that, "I may have been cut open, but at least I didn't need vag stitches (I was terrified of the possibility of an episiotomy)Your going to be fine. Just make sure that you have help from your partner and a family member for the first week or so when you'll be the most sore. And don't skip your meds!!!

Not sure, recovery for a c-section is much longer. After a vaginal delivery I was up and doing normal stuff days after with no pain meds (minus being tired because it felt like I just ran two marathons back to back).

Pro- your vagina doesn't tear and your hips and pelvis don't have to split I half and push a large football out! - con longer and possibly more difficult recovery time.

My c-section with my second was so easy. Very easy recovery. I shoveled snow a week after.

I pray I have the same experience as you. my first c section was hell on earth to recover from and couldn’t work out for months. I have a theory though I think it’s bc I laboured beforehand. This time I’m skipping the labour and going straight to surgery

Yes, I labored for days and ended up having an emergency c-section with my first. Now that recovery was awful. I didn't feel good enough to workout for at least 6 months.

I'm not sure why that would be the case, recovery from a c section is more difficult.
