Are nurseries necessary right away ?

A lot of people I’ve talked to in the past said that their baby didn’t even sleep in their crib for so long and they slept in a bassinet next to them and stuff and they didn’t even put them in their crib till they were older.. so I’m kinda like what’s the point of dedicating a whole room to the baby like of course a rental area of some sort for clothes and stuff but a whole room that they don’t even use ? But again idek.. like do they use it.. idk lol

They're not necessary at first but I'm glad I decorated while I was pregnant because I wouldn't have had the energy to later on.

I have used my son’s nursery a ton since he came home. He slept in my room at night, but he would nap in his crib in his room. We also used his changing table in his room from day one, for every diaper change. I nursed him in his room at night. Plus having his room set up gave me a place to store his things.

I had my nursery for my first daughter done at 28 weeks. It was essentially useless until she was six months old. I would hang their clothes up, or organize them according to what you want in drawers, but aside from changing her clothes, she spent almost no time in her room. This time, I’m not even starting the nursery until she’s born, partially because I get tired of people commenting about me painting and stuff while pregnant. We are also skipping a crib this time and just using the different stages of the pack and play until they start using a toddler bed. My babies sleep in our room until they are six months, so we have plenty of time to get her room ready. We also have a rocker in the living room, which will probably move to my room when she’s born, and we will transition it to her room when she is a little older.

I still sleep in my daughter's room with her and we haven't decorated it very much. After our second gets here we will be making it into a room for both of them. I'm glad I didn't go crazy since I'd now have to change it.

Nope. With my first we moved 3 weeks after he was born so we didn’t bother with a nursery until after that. We set it up fairly quick after we moved, though, so he could play in it and get used to it as a comfortable space, I think that made the transition easier when we did put him in his own room.

Most associations and organizations say it's best to keep baby in your room for the first year as a SIDS precaution. I don't have a nursery but even if I did, I'm too lazy to go to a whole nother room just to give her back her paci when she cries at 3,4,5,6 am lol. It's easier to just have her a few feet away from me tbh

Personally I need one because my husband sleeps during the day in our bedroom where his bassinet is and I need a safe place to put the baby down for his naps during the day. So I answered "Depends".

We plan on starting it in a month or two, including the crib. I like to be prepared and it’ll bother me immensely if we don’t have everything they will need eventually. The room as it is now is kind of a catch all but we’ve been working on making room for baby’s things as we won’t have any storage in any other room. Plus that room has great light so it’ll be nice to hang out in there anyway.

It depends on the baby. I have 4 kids and my 2 daughters didn't like to room share with me. It's like I was disturbing them lol. So they moved out of my bedroom around 2 months old.  But they do not care whatsoever about decorations or even notice it until probably 8 or 9 months at the earliest. So if you don't want to put a nursery together, you don't have to.
