My mom broke her ankle so bad she had to have surgery this past Saturday to have plates and screws in.

Okay so occasionally she gets these spasms in her foot that hurt really bad and right now her foot is so swollen that she says it feels like the cast is about to bust (she knows it's not but still)

Her doctor didn't tell her if any of this would be normal or not, obviously I knew swelling would be but not to that extent.

They wouldn't even give her anything good for pain, just told her to take Advil and stuff like that for it because her doctor "doesn't believe in pain medication." Her foot was literally twisted all the way to the left from how she fell and disloacated from her ankle, I'd think you'd need pain meds for something like that.

I was hoping a nurse or doctor on here could tell me what ways I could help relieve her from some of the pain, she keeps it elevated and uses the ice packs the hospital gave her but it doesn't really help, and she doesn't get up unless she needs to pee so it's not because of her moving around too much.

She also has sutures in her leg that's she scared will bust if her leg keeps swelling.
