Anyone been induced? 1st time

I've been in hospital since Monday, and will be for at least the next week. I'm being induced this Sunday because I've got pre eclampsia (only just been diagnosed Monday).
My plan was originally all natural so I've never looked about being induced, I'm having as what they describe to be a tampon looking thing inserted into the cervix? I can't remember the name. But any experiences? Things I can do to help dilate quicker etc :)

I was induced at 41+1. I had the pessary your talking about. I had it in for 30 hours. It personally didn’t do anything, the doctor was then Unable to break my waters I then went onto the hormone drip for 4 hours which was also unsuccessful and another attempt at breaking my waters was unsuccessful. I didn’t dilate passed 1cm and my cervix was to high to break my waters. I ended up having a c section. 
But my induction experience although long I was pain free, never experienced a contraction and would do it all over again

I was induced at 35 weeks and 6 days. I was also diagnosed with preeclampsia half my pregnancy. They gave me meds and I only pushed for about 10 min until my baby girl came out. Nothing to worry about

The first thing they place is a medication called cervadil. It’s supposed to help ripen the cervix, and some people go into labor just with that. That was not my experience, but it wasn’t bad, either. Sometimes they will place a foley bag to help stretch you to a 4, but I never needed that. They use pitocin to start contractions, and some women opt out of epidurals even during inductions, but I wouldn’t if you’re not naturally contracting (no judgement, I just started having contractions too often, so they had to reduce the pitocin, but the contractions were intense). If it doesn’t break on it’s own, they will break your water, and in many people’s experience, it gets really intense quickly after that. I got an epidural about two-three hours after they broke my water. My labor (also induced) was really smooth. I went from a 5-10 in less than two hours, and 20 minutes later was ready to push. I pushed for an hour, which is average from who I’ve spoken to. My only suggestion is to make sure you’re switching positions occasionally.
