Doctors note??

My job has me on mandatory overtime. 55+ hours a week. I’m currently 27 weeks pregnant. I’m not sleeping at night and my back is killing me. I go to the doctor Friday should I get a doctors note for 40 hours are is it still to soon?

Wtf is mandatory overtime? Is this America? Thank the stars I live in Australia. And YES, if you need more rest it doesn’t matter what week gestation you’re at. You are growing a human in your torso. 
It is going to get harder on your body in the coming months and then you’ll be the life provider of a life-sucking vampire newborn child. 
Be kind to yourself now. You need to practice this because it’s your first priority. Without you, your baby has nothing. If you fall apart, your baby has nothing. Self care is always forgotten but it’s integral

Girl YES. I was only 15 weeks and got my note, they did the mandatory overtime 55-80 hours a work week for me as well, and calling me in on my days off and I HAD to come in (public safety job) and it caused me to miss my appointments and im highrisk so I couldnt. Got the note and its been great ever since.

Does your work offer FMLA? I had a really good job first pregnancy and I was able to use FMLA for any days off I needed with no penalty and there was no limit. I worked in a manufacturing plant building cars so I also had quite a few restrictions. They were very good at accommodating me. I had a lot of cramping and pain about midway through and doctor took me off work for three days—all I had to do was call fmla number and it was taken care of. By 9 months I couldn’t keep up with 5-6 day weeks so I would have to use FMLA when needed. My current job also offers FMLA (I’m contingent so can’t get it) but this FMLA is limited and also takes from your post partum leave which is soooo stupid. But anyways if they have FMLA check into it and see what it entails. That would help save your job if you can’t keep up with expected hours

I’ll be 38 weeks in 2 days and I’m still working 55+ hours a week. 
HG, lower back pain, GD, the whole 9....
If you feel you can’t work over 40, only you can make that call. 
I highly recommend you check your job requirements and wording for how you’re protected (or not). You can’t get fired for being pregnant....but you can for various other reasons include “performance”during times when OT is required of everyone else.
