Which one of you is better at managing money in the relationship?

Which one of you has a healthy money blueprint? Meaning a healthy viewpoint on money. Are You are the power saver,you know how to move the money around in the relationship to make sure everything stays afloat? Was it difficult? What techniques did you use? How did you assist the other in their outlook on money?

My fiancé isn't so good at staying on top of things. I didn't realize how bad until we bought a home together. Safe to say I now manage the finances. We went from holy shit we're so far behind, what the hell are we going to do? To holy shit we're actually ahead now within a week. It took me four days to figure it out and a ton of paper. But now we're super set. He says it's the first time in years he's actually had money left in the bank by the time his next check rolls around and the first time in years he's had money in his savings account. How? For starters I wrote down everything we were behind on. Instead of taking a payday loan and fucking ourselves on interest, I took a loan from a family member. Used that to cover a few things that were behind (others got split into half payments and added on to the next two months worth of bills) and we paid off one debt that was a huge chunk of money every month. That freed us up to do the half payment on a behind bill. After this month that will be completely caught up. Which saves us even more money. I wrote down what was due and when it's due. For things that are set (car payment, cable, insurance, mortgage) I actually have numbers written down. For electric and water I don't because those change monthly. Then I took his check amount for each week (he's paid every friday) and used the minimum he makes. Always best to plan with the minimum. That way anything over is extra. Wrote down the date and what had to come out of that check. Example his last check in August was over the minimum. His minimum is 585. That's the number I use. 585.00 minus the 295.65 for mortgage on 9/1, minus 150.00 for the week (gas, food, cigs). Left us with a decent amount that got added to his 9/4 check 585.00 (even though his check was 617.84) covered lot rent (we don't own the land). What's left from this go around will be added to his next check which will pay 68.27 for cable/internet, 99.75 for electric, and 90.00 for insurance. It's easy now

If I let my husband take care of the bills we would be homeless LOL I pay everything as fast as we get paid so we are a month ahead on our bills. So stress & no worries! Whatever is left is food, gas & fun $!

Me. Partner is HORRIBLE with budgeting. Left to his own devices no bills would be paid. But we would have electronics for days, lol.....

My SO is better at making sure we pay bills, but when we go to the store or out anywhere really, I keep him from spending unnecessary money. We work well together in that department :)

If it were up to my husband.. he, the cats and myself would all be living in a cardboard box under the drawbridge... but he'd be damned if we didnt have new fishing polls, tackle and tons of bait...

I am the one who handles all the bills. I personally send the check or set up bill pay to have every single bill, minus two, come out of our joint account. 
We have a joint bills account, I have my own account and he has his own account. 
The "minus two" bills are MY student loans and HIS child support. Now, dont gwt me wrong.. I follow up behind him and make sure that the child support is paid on time.. but he has always been pretty good about it. In over 10yrs there have only been maybe a handfull of times I have had to make the child support payment.
Whatever is left over from his check each week, he gives me an extra $100/week to put towards savings and he has to make due with what he has left. 
I pay my student loans out of my account because I dont find it fair that my husband should have to pay for something I screwed the pooch on. It is MY responsibility.... just like the child support is HIS responsibility.

I just had a conversation with some coworkers today about this. There is always one person that is better at managing and saving than the other but that also doesn't give the other person the right to be irresponsible. In my relationship I handle money very well and always save money. My husband will pay the bills and he makes more than I do but I'm better at long term saving, goals and managing credit
