33 weeks and cramps from nipple stimulation?

Question

Last night I expressed some colostrum from my right nipple. Just checking to see if I can. This morning I expressed from my left nipple. Again, just checking out the changes to my body. I cleaned the bathroom this morning and all day I’ve had constant period type cramps in my low abdomen and back and down the front of my thighs. Could I have caused some type of contractions due to nipple stimulation?

You're not supposed to stimulate them for that reason.

It can cause cramping or contractions but it won’t start actual labor until your body is actually ready. Women breastfeed all the time during pregnancy without causing labor. Minimal nipple isn’t likely to be the problem. Cleaning the bathroom might have exhausted your body a little and caused the cramps.

Nipple stimulation can help induce labor. It’s actually how my mom kickstarted labor with all 5 of us. Keep track of your contractions and if you have more than 4 in an hour- give your doctor a call! You can never be too safe when it comes to your little one. Good luck 😊
