How soon after delivery did they remove your IV?

Just out of curiosity 😂 also how long before you got to take a shower? And did the nurse have to be in there with you? I’d kinda rather be alone showering lol

My iv was taken out as soon as I peed with both kids, so maybe 2 hours after delivery. I also showered after about 4 hours. I had an epidural, so I waited til I was steady on my feet and after I took a nap. I took it alone and it felt great and I loved being fresh and clean when visitors came

They removed the IV before sleeping that night I believe. I gave birth close to noon. I took a shower that day?? Or maybe the next. Whatever was more comfortable. I was alone.

I was required to keep my IV in for 24 hours. I don’t know if this is normal protocol or if it was because I had such an issue with nurses getting a needle in. It was horrible because it was on my right inner arm where my newborn preferred putting her head. The IV was completely bent and useless when they took it out so the nurse said the suffering was pointless and they would have had to replace it anyway, haha.
I showered alone. They didn’t tell me when I could, I just did it when I was able to get up and go. It was about 24 hours as well and was after my IV was out.

I was having problems with bleeding (turns out I retained placenta, which they didn’t catch until 3weeks pp, but that’s a different story), so I had my IV pretty much my whole stay (4 days), and didn’t get to shower for about 36 hours. I did get to shower by myself.

I  had an emergency c-section had my son at 1220a finally came out of anesthesia fully about 400a moved to a room and they removed my I IV about 5am because my arm was so swollen the alarm on the IV machine kept going off everytime I moved

I had an induction due to hypertension and got my IV placed on a Tuesday @5 pm and gave birth the next morning @10am and they kept it in till Friday around 1pm because they have to keep giving me IV blood pressure meds but if I wouldn’t have had hypertension they would have taken it out as soon as I delivered, they wrapped my IV and I showered alone

To be honest I don’t really remember how long afterwards that they took the IV out. I think I kept mine a little longer because I did have an issue with my blood pressure going way to high so they kept it for emergency purposes. I took a shower the day after giving birth and my nurse did not stay in the bathroom. The only time my nurse was going to stay in the bathroom was when they had me get up to pee after having my son but I can’t do it when people watch lol so she cracked the door and waited for me. During my shower my husband was in the room just in case.

Mine was an emergency c section so I dont have answers for the first few. But as long as you are steady on your feet and not considered a fall risk you can shower alone right away.

I had a csection and had it from about 5am- sometime after lunch. I was in too much pain to walk, so got a shower the next day around lunch. I got one myself, didn’t even ask the nurse. My husband just stayed close by and I kept the door open
