Hello lovely people. Need opinions please. Posting this here in the Religious group as I do not wish to start a debate nor disgrace the Bible but really shocked of what I just read to my 4 year old!!!

So got a children’s Bible: 365 stories in it. Introduces the Bible in a plain short story form.

We are in the beginning and read the following stories that confused me :

Story of Sarah and Abraham: how they couldn’t have a child so Sarah allows Abraham to marry his slave and get her pregnant!

Story of Soddom where everyone is wicked but Lot , the good person, who is saved from being destroyed together eith the city and again: he has slaves!!!

Than it also talks abt Sarah and Abraham being old and die soon.

Now my 4 year old girl didn’t realized what slave is...dis not enter into jt but she asked me “why do people die”?

So here I am explaining it to her when I really didn’t want to.

Think that polygamy or multiple wives are OK!

And last but not least: slavery! My husband is black African- at some point my daughter will learn about slavery because it is part of her/ our history. But it is not something acceptable as it is described in the Bible.

Now I do understand that those were different times but my daughter doesn’t...

So for

Now I stopped reading the Bible to her...unsure what other stories might come...

But really wondering what do other people think of this?! My husband said is no big deal, is the Bible and different times so my daughter will learn it like that...but I am not keen on the above!
