Itching and Group B Strep ?

Hey guys, FTM here. At my initial visit to my OB, she did a urine test that came back positive for Group B strep and put me on oral penicillin and said she’ll retest it at the next appointment and give me IV antibiotics when I go into labor. 
Since starting the penicillin I’ve had itching *down there*. Is this normal of GBS+/penicillin treatment for it?

A few weeks ago I had a lot of itching + other symptoms so I treated myself for a yeast infection. Symptoms went away besides the itching so at my appointment I had a Pap test and pee test. Pee test came back GBS positive and they prescribed me oral penicillin, same as you. About a week later the itching went away and next pee year came back clear. So maybe you might have a yeast infection which antibiotics can cause. I would go get a pap done.

I’m not sure but medicine can cause yeast infections let your doctor know! Which could be a reason for being itchy

Sounds like a reaction to the penicillin. This is also common with sulfa drugs. If it’s unbearable I’d call the doctor. You can take Benadryl in the meantime
