Is it wrong to ask my bridesmaids to pay for their own hair or do it themselves?

So I’m getting married in June, and after pricing a hair stylist for me and my bridesmaids, am in a bit of a budget crunch. While I’d love to pay for everyone’s updos, I can’t justify $600+ out of my pocket for it.

My bridesmaids are already paying for their dresses ($175) and the discounted hotel rooms I secured for them for the weekend. Would it be unfair to ask them to pay for their own hair ($65 per person)?

I’d give them the option to have the stylist do their hair or to do it themselves. I ran the idea by two of the bridesmaids and they were understanding/very supportive, but I have another one in particular who will probably be a jerk about it... she already flipped out when I decided not to hire a makeup artist.

Is it wrong of me to ask them to pay for their own hair? Should I risk going into debt just to keep everyone satisfied?
