I suck at reading men

So I just got put in a group for a project with this guy in my class who I’ve always thought was super cute. It’s us and 2 other people. So the other day, I get a text from this cutie asking what the homework was for Friday. I found it weird that he texted just me and not the group chat. So I told him, and we just kinda kept talking about the class. He was taking a while to respond, which made me think he wasn’t interested. But when he did text back, he used emojis and didn’t just use one word answers, which kinda made me second guess that. He also told me I’d have an easier time with the homework cause I’m “way smarter” than him, which is a compliment?? But then I walked passed him today, and he just whipped out his phone, looked down at it and kept walking, and I can’t tell if that means a guy is attracted to you or if he couldn’t be less attracted to you... I’ve heard it both ways. So yeah, I don’t really know how to go about this🤷🏼‍♀️
