Anyone else live away from family?

My parents and DH parents live 6 hours away out of state. As first time parents to be, we are becoming more and more nervous about the prospect of having kids without any family help. Anyone else have experience with this? Is it possible to make it work without pulling our hair out every day?😂

We live in Alaska (military couple) and the grandparents all live in Florida . They’ll come to visit but my husband and I have always been further away since we got married and we’ve tackled all life has thrown at us so I’m confident we’ll be okay! Good luck to you as well mama !

I'm over 80 hours away from my family. This is our first baby! We can definately do it

My husband’s family is on the other side of the world, mine are 4 hours away in another state... we’ll be fine. For emergencies we have lots of friends, after that there’s daycare and nannies. You make it work!

Yep both our parents live 7 hours away. This is our first too. We’ll just have to make do. Other friends of ours close by are hoping to use their  one close parent to babysit instead of childcare, definitely not an option for us

We’re a military family and are 26 hours from our family. We had our daughter little over a year ago and although it was tough not having help, it is completely manageable. Parenting isn’t easy, but it also isn’t hard. Everything will workout and all you can do is not worry!

We had our first overseas, so, I 100% hear you. For us, it brought my husband and I so close together, bonding over the baby. And we didnt have to deal with overbearing moms/MILs! Haha.
HOWEVER, now we live in Boston and all of our family lives in the far south (Texas, Florida, Louisiana), and we have two kids and one on the way, and we NEEEED the help! So yes, make sure you call in the reserves if you’re feeling overwhelmed, but honestly with one baby and two (mostly available parents), I think you’ll be fine ;)

My parents live in a different country and there is a travel ban, so they can’t even come to visit us in US!

We live in CO and the grandparents live on the east and west coasts so it’s always been a big deal to have them come and visit to help. We had the first few days on our own with our daughter and it was great, actually. Since then, they come and visit or we visit them when we can and do FaceTime in between. We’ve had a lot of friends help out and a daycare that we love. Four years later, we’re getting ready to do it all over again and I feel good knowing we’ve all tried to make the miles not seem so far. Best wishes! It’s totally doable and makes the time you do spend with family even more special! 😊
