What do you think of “griefcations”? (Read article)

My mom is dying of cancer and doesn’t have long. I want to take a griefcation to relax after years of the stress and emotional rollercoaster when she passes. I think it’s beneficial for a lot of people to be in a new place that’s not associated with stress to be able to turn a new page in their life and help relieve their pain. Griefcations are for people who lost a loved one in general, not just to cancer.
Edit: I know the name is weird but my question is about the concept of it. Thanks for your comments ❤️

I think people deal with loss in their own ways. If someone needs to get away, then do it. Do what works for you and what helps you. 🤷‍♀️

I dont love the name, it weird me put for some reason. But everyone grieves differently. I dont see it as good or bad. If that's what you need to do, then definitely do it.

I think travel can be helpful in the grieving process as it helped for me. I just really don't like the name. 
My grandma passed in 99, in 2000 my mom and I were still grieving, we went to Disneyland that summer to take our minds off of it. It was fun because my mom told me stories of when my grandma and granny (great grandma) took her and my aunt to Disneyland and she said it had changed a lot.

I think that is a nice idea, grieving a loss is quite difficult.

At first I read this as you and your mom would take a vacation before she passes. And then reread it and realized it’s just for you. I think if your mom is healthy enough to travel...even if it’s a mini road trip somewhere for a weekend that would mean a lot more than taking one alone later. 
And sorry to hear about your mom. She’s way too young 😔 cancer is so evil.

My best friend died last year. We left for a brief vacation the next week (already planned). It was a great 2 weeks, much needed, I was dealing well, hanging with my kids and husband. Then we got home and I went straight back to 70 hrs a week at work. Then things slowed down a little..... and reality hit. And I think it hit way worse than if I'd just had to deal with it in the first place.

To each their own. Would I personally  do it?  Nope.  If I'm  grief stricken,  I wouldnt  want to spend money to be depressed some place else.  Maybe for a break up  or something  of that sort... But i wouldn't  for a family member who passed.

Not my thing personally I couldn't enjoy myself while grieving. If other people want to do that and it helps that's fine but why have a name for it? Just seems so ridiculous.

Not my thing. I took 2 weeks off. Only my boss knew. When I went to work I told people I was on vacation. I wanted to be at work. Unfortunately I had to handle everything alone in top of an addict sister, so I had to do that so I could be 100% at work. 
So do you and what you need to do, but it's not for everyone

I don’t like the name, but I think the idea is fine. Everyone grieve differently, if this helps them then I think that’s great.
