Umbilical cord not dry underneath??

My baby’s cord stump finally started to come off at 3 weeks but it is held on by a piece that looks to not be dry at all and I’m totally freaked out. I’m so scared to pull on it accidentally and hurt him. I’m scared to even hold him. What do I do??

Have you called your pediatrician? I would do that. When this happened to my daughter, my ped told me to use alcohol on a q tip 3x a day to dry it out now that the bulk has fallen off. It seems to have worked and she didnt seem bothered at all. [Note: We did not use alcohol or give her a submersion bath before it fell off.]

I've had 3 kids. Its normal use alcohol wipes or a with a q-tip and wipe the area. It doesn't hurt the baby. It will probably fall off in a day or 2.

My daughter lost hers after 7 days. It will be fine! It's just nerve wracking 😂

that happened to my son when it was in the process of falling off and I was scared too but by the time he had woken up from his nap it had fallen off by itself. don't stress about it it's going to come off sooner than you think and there's probably going to be like a tiny couple drops of blood may be on his diaper or on something and don't freak out that's totally normal
