YouTube is not your babysitter!

Geez everyone is going nuts about this momo thing but you all clearly underestimate YouTube and the internet in general.

In YouTube kids there has always been disturbing content as well as videos that really aren’t good for a child’s development. These videos can be found so easily (I’ve stumbled onto some without even trying) and it really isn’t a safe place for kids, especially young ones to roam around unsupervised.

As for the internet in general, it’s the internet! It’s not a safe zone where nothing can ever happen, just like it’s impossible to stop crime in real life. Hackers are on the internet all the time and you need to be prepared for all kinds of attacks.

Too many people roam around the internet not knowing a single thing about internet safety (or computers in general) then leave their kids to do the same thing without any knowledge of this stuff either. So are you really surprised it’s so easy to target kids?

These tablets and mobiles you shove in your kid’s faces are not babysitters and should not be used as such. If you do this then don’t be surprised when it backfires.
