Society’s low expectations

I’ve been meaning to post this topic but I just haven’t had the tone.

This question came to me over the weekend while out with friends, one of whom is also blind. I was walking to the paper towel dispenser when an employee started saying ‘good job there you go!’ Like I was a baby. Another experience I had was when we were all walking out of McDonald’s and a lady said that my friend and I should have stayed home because we shouldn’t be out in public.

So my question is why do you think society has such low expectations for blind people?
