Has anyone had any scares with choking?

Has anyone had any scares with choking? My little dude isn’t a fan of baby food but wants anything I’m eating but my husband has made me so scared of him choking

Choking and gagging are VERY different. Gagging is totally normal as baby learns how to handle new textures. Their gag reflex is much farther forward than an adults, which actually prevents them from choking by forcing large pieces of food out of their mouth. Choking (turning blue, not making any sound) is rare, especially when you follow BLW guidelines.

Babies have an extremely responsible gag reflex. It's also very far forward on their tongues to help keep them from choking. As long as you aren't feeding them foods that are explicitly choking hazards and you are watching them carefully everything should be fine. I second looking up BLW info.

My daughter started refusing purees so we had no choice but to start on real solid food and it's been great.

Are you BLW? If so, follow BLW for beginners on FB. It has helped me SO much with this. When I bubs starts choking I have to mentally tell myself “it’s okay, he’s got it” and every time he’s managed to get it up himself. The choking reflex is very important in them leading to eat. If he sees me freak out a little, he laughs and it makes it worse. Lol

Yes but babies have this chocking reflex or gag reflex that helps them not choke I forget what the site was called.. but you & baby should be fine unless you’re giving him/her something other than baby food be extra cautious.
