How much do you spend on groceries?

I have a family of 3 and I want to know the average of what everyone spends on groceries. I feel like 200 isn’t enough...especially when I’m cooking breakfast lunch and dinner everyday for two weeks. I’m also not the most skilled and organized when it comes to cooking so I use all the fresh ingredients I have and then keep going back. I want to have left overs but never make enough to have that.

We spend about $75 every other week on our food then about $50-$100 every month for 2 dogs a cat 2 Guinea pigs and a bird. On a good month we spend $200 but, on a weird month where everything runs out at the same time we spend closer to $300-$400 a month. I imagine that all of these animals combined would cost about the same as one child so I'd say that $200 a month is a bit to little but, it's definitely manageable if you're willing to sacrifice variety and name brand foods. We've survived during a levy on $200 a month for all of us. It was a pain but, my animals still got the best. I made sure that my husband had 3 big meals a day but, I'd go hungry alot of the time to try and save money (he worked a strenuous manual labor job 70-80 hours a week so he had to eat alot of food). It really depends from what I saw, on how much each adult needs to consume. If you or your spouse works a manual labor job then, one or both of you would be consuming closer to 3000-4000 calories a day. If you are like me (I have a desk job and work from home) I personally need to only consume 1200 calories a day to maintain my body weight. I ate closer to 200-800 calories a day when I was starving myself to make sure my family ate. I'd highly suggest making room in your budget or working some overtime so that you can afford more food. I don't recommend doing what I was doing. I was very very sick and $200 a month just is no longer sustainable for a grocery budget. It's a damn shame. They just hiked up prices in our area again and I'm currently not making any real money. Idk what we're going to do. Tax returns have saved us this time but idk what's going to happen when we run out. We live in a "job desert" and it took me a year to find a job outside of the home last time I looked. Don't try to feed yourselves on $200 a month. One or all of you will be lacking in something. Good luck.

For a family of 5, 3 adults and 2 children, we spend roughly $500-$600 a month on groceries, but that's not just food, that's toiletries, cleaning products, and anything else we may need for the house.

Family of 4. We just came up with a new budget to spend under $100 per week. We were doing about $150-$175 per week which included eating out. We decided to only eat out now 1-2 times a month. Doing great so far I only spent $75 at our last grocery trip and got everything we needed!

We buy all fresh fruit and veggies and we eat whole wheat and lots of healthier options and I only buy clean organic meat (I sound so boujie but I’m not I promise!) I just get grossed out by meat a lot! so our groceries tend to be more expensive. I would say $200 a week.
