HCG drop then rise?

We. Are. Confused.

(we including my doctor and her colleagues)

My HCG levels have us all dumbfounded. Here’s the history:

Feb 26- 363

Feb 28- 269

Mar 1 - 245

March 6 - 555

I am estimating myself to be roughly 5.5-6 weeks now.

She sent me home last Friday SURE that I was facing a miscarriage and was expecting me to start bleeding before the weekend was over. But all I’ve had since then is very light, brown spotting. Not even enough to need a panty liner really. I’ve had some discomfort in my pelvic area, but really just feels like gas more than it feels like cramps.

Needless to say we were SHOCKED to find out on Wednesday that my HCG has more than doubled since Friday. She did a sono today but didn’t see anything. She doesn’t feel that it’s ectopic because the level has risen pretty drastically and from what I understand, ectopics don’t have THAT big of a swing. We ended up doing a biopsy that will tell us if the pregnancy is in my uterus so we will know how to treat it (whether with Cytotec or Methotrexate). We will get those results tomorrow and will know how to move forward from there.

She is saying she’s certain it’s an abnormal pregnancy and I am in agreement with her but the tiniest piece of me is like, BUT WHAT IF?!

Honestly we are all mind F’d. I just want to know what is going on inside my body.

Has this ever happened to anyone else? 🤯😦
